All day, Big Band Jazz of the highest calibre blasted the rafters of Doncaster's dazzling new CAST auditorium, a suitably uplifting way to celebrate a 40th birthday. Newcomers to the Doncaster jazz scene and stalwarts alike were thrilled by an eclectic swathe of glorious music.
Founded in 2000, the Musicport World Music Festival returned to its original home of Whitby last year, after a brief hiatus in nearby Bridlington. This year’s festival will be held at the Whitby Pavilion and features an outstanding (and sizeable) line up from across the spectrum of World Music, folk, blues and roots.

The Recon festival is a week long multi venue extravaganza across Leeds and Bradford, celebrating all things left field in music and film.
With the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten being celebrated this year, the fifth edition of the North York Moors Chamber Music Festival for 2013 is themed accordingly, and is entitled “A Time There Was” in homage to one of Britten’s last works.
