August Bank Holiday Weekend
A Whale of a Tale!
The Deep is the perfect setting for deep sea themed storytelling. Taking place from 12-3pm everyday, it's an ideal time for a rest, before setting off to discover more of the aquarium.
Home to a King: Alec Finlay
Ten nest boxes are spread throughout the park land of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, containing crossword clues based on the names of British trees. Not only is the YSP a great day out for everyone, searching for the nest boxes is a great way to keep children entertained.
Jousting Competition
This bank holiday you can take a trip to the Royal Armouries, to watch valiant knights jousting. From Saturday to Monday there will be two jousts per day, leading up to the grand final on Monday afternoon. You can also explore the national collection of arms and armour, located within the museum.

Charity Bungee Jump
Fancy helping the Sheffield Children’s Hospital this bank holiday weekend? There is a charity bungee jump taking place at The Belfry in Sheffield, and even if you are not going to do the bungee jump yourself, it will still be a great day- watching the brave people throw themselves off the towering platform! There is also live music, face painting, a barbecue and more. The event takes place from 12pm until late, Sunday 30th August. Entry is free.
Artsmix Contemporary Art Market
This bank holiday Howard Castle presents a contemporary art market. Local artists will be showcasing their work, including ceramics, textiles, jewellery, sculpture and paintings. These events, organised in conjunction with Leeds-based Artsmix, are located in the Stable Courtyard and are open from 10am until 4pm.
Harewood Family Steam Rally
Harewood House will host the Harewood Family Steam Rally, this bank holiday. Hissing-smoking steam engines, melodious steam-powered organs and much more will make it a great day out. There will also be entertainment, food and drinks on offer.
Whitby Pirates
Whitby Abbey will be overrun with pirates, smugglers and privateers over the August bank holiday weekend. There will be everything from cannon demonstrations, to duelling pirates, to a musical adaption of Treasure Island.
